A DIVERSE GROUP OF NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS CREATE ANIMATION VIDEO TO EDUCATE VOTERS ABOUT PAPER BALLOT VOTING

New Jersey’s Danny DeVito Narrates

TRENTON, NJ – With a little help from Danny DeVito, the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters Education Fund and a diverse group of non-profit organizations have created a fresh way to educate New Jerseyans about the importance of voting and how to do it safely and effectively during COVID-19. The coalition has created a short non-partisan animated video for viewers that clearly outlines how to vote in this election - how to fill out a paper ballot, where to place your signature, and where and how to deliver your vote to ensure it’s received. There is also a Spanish version of the video for New Jersey registered voters who speak Spanish as a first language to help make sure they have equal access to the information they need to vote.

“With so much on the line in this election, New Jersey LCV Education Fund and our partners wanted to create a clear and fun way to give the people of New Jersey the information they need to vote this year. Democracy only works if we all participate,” said Patty Cronheim, Campaigns Director, New Jersey LCV. “We want everyone to know that paper ballot voting is safe and secure, they don’t have to wait - vote as soon as they can, and most importantly everyone’s vote matters. We are also super excited that Danny DeVito generously offered to narrate the animation and are extremely grateful to him for helping us get the vote out in New Jersey!”

“The League of Women Voters is thrilled to partner with other organizations to ensure that New Jersey voters get factual, nonpartisan voting information this election season,” said Jesse Burns, Executive Director of the League of Women Voters of New Jersey. “Every voter should make a voting plan, selecting one of the many options they have to cast a ballot, and then encourage their friends and family to do the same.”

"We are living in extraordinary times, facing challenges we haven’t faced before – especially for communities of color who have been ravaged by the current pandemic," said Henal Patel, Director of the Democracy & Justice Program at the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice. "Like everything else, voting looks different this year. But as we face one of the most urgent elections of our lifetimes, it's more important than ever that we get it right. We hope this video proves helpful for New Jerseyans across the state who want to make sure their voices are heard."

“This is the most important election of our lifetime. It’s crucial voters know that ‘Vote At Home’ is easy, safe, and secure,” said Sue Altman, Executive Director, Working Families. “The more folks who vote, the stronger our democracy is!”

“This election is the most important in recent history on the local and national levels,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey LCV Education Fund. “We really appreciate Mr. DeVito joining in on this important effort and all the work of our partners to help educate New Jerseyans on how to vote in this year’s election amid a pandemic.”
